Why We Like The Thule Epos 2 With Lights
When spring rolls around and the bikes come out of storage, we get out and ride every chance we get. The Thule Epos 2 With Lights helps us get to the trailhead in safety and style. With a 2-bike capacity, integrated tail lights, and a license plate holder, the Epos 2 With Lights takes a standard hitch-mounted bike rack to the next level. This rack can accompany two bikes of all sizes and disciplines with up to 3.2-inch-wide tires and up to 1350mm wheelbases. The included locks lock our rack to the car and our bikes to the rack for added peace of mind, and the rack can fold up when not in use for a small footprint on the back of our vehicle. If we want to take the rack off the back of our car, the included wheels on the bottom make transporting our rack back into storage a breeze, and the tilting feature allows us to access our trunk even when the rack is loaded with bikes.

Fantastic e-bike carrier
Just used it for the first time. It was very simple to install in my Silverado truck. The bikes were easy to put n the rack and locked down good. I felt that my bikes were safe going down the road and love the extra safety from having lights back there.

Good except for one issue
I like the rack and the lights but don’t understand why they didn’t build in a way to lock the rack up against the car while not loaded. I can use the tongue release to raise the rack while out riding but nothing holds it in place so I could have it up and make grocery runs while traveling.

Travel freedom
The bike rack is very easy to set up and holds the bikes very firmly in place. The drop down feature also works extremely well. The light weight and folding of the rack when not in use makes storage very easy. Very happy with my purchase.

Good solid product
Happy with my purchase. Unit is not as long as I thought it was. Checked to make sure before purchasing as I have a very long wheelbase e-bike. Would have liked to see tire guides a little higher to prevent the front wheel twisting once it is strapped down. Problem solved by making sure the front wheel axle doesn’t protrude past the end of the guide rails. Once you realize there is an order to strapping your bike down the unit works well and holds the bike in a very stable position. I really like the locks on the upright top tube clamps as it makes it extremely difficult for someone to remove the bike from the rack and you don’t have to fiddle with pulling out cable locks. Like that the top tube clamps are telescopic; much superior to the Easy Fold rack, with fixed clamps that made carrying two bikes a massive headache. Also really like the lights and license plate position, although it does take a little while to realize your vehicle is a couple of feet longer than it was. No more tickets for having a covered license plate. Bikes are easy to load and rack carries two heavy e-bikes in a stable manner. Recommended.

Thule Epos 2
I had a bad experience last summer with a bike getting loose on the carrier and due to the velcro straps on the tires, it was the only thing that saved the bike and any cars behind us on I-75! I have been hauling our Pedego bikes in my van and it was very challenging. I opted to go with this carrier and I am very pleased.

Like the rack as it’s easy to attach to hitch.
Disappointed that Thule did not rig the light cables inside the supports as the cables now are easily detached from the unit. Also Thule should have installed a permanent ring to attach extra locking cables.

Rollers and Tail Lights
I like the wheels that allow you to roll the carrier from my garage to the vehicle. The tail lights and license plate holder address safety concerns since my old rack blocked the vehicle tail lights and license plate. It would be nice if Thule developed a bike cover that allowed me to cover my e-bikes without blocking the racks tail lights and license plate.

Buy This Rack
Used our Epos for the first time. Fantastic. Received the rack and organized all the tools needed to put the rack together, which has always been the case with Thule. Not so. Surprised and ecstatic when I opened the box to find it was completely assembled and to top it all off, a completely tool-less installation. Not sure why it took so long to get his rack to the North American market, but we did wait it out and now have, probably the best hitch mounted bike rack ever.

Excellent design. Easy to load/unload. Very secure
I would have given 5 stars but my rack came with a lighting flaw that is forcing me to make a warranty claim. Aside from the lighting I’m very pleased. The design and execution are terrific. Its top-dollar cost is reflected in its top-of-class quality.

Carries bikes, fails at everything else
Having used the bike rack for the past 4 months I'll agree that the loading, securing, and fit for e-bikes is excellent. Unfortunately everything else is an epic fail, especially for a very expensive bike rack. Starting with trying to attach the rack to your hitch, you had better have a lot of patience and a lot of strength to put this into your receiver. Does it fit snugly after it's seated? Absolutely. Is it a complete pain to put in and take out? Absolutely. It's designed to expand once placed inside the receiver, however getting it into the receiver is an exercise in patience. Flipping the lever over to shrink the receiver is supposed to allow the bike rack to smoothly slide in, but even after greasing the receiver, it is still very very difficult to slip in. Which echoes when you try to pull it back out. Rocking back and forth 20-30 times before you can actually extract the rack is really unacceptable. Secondarily and frankly most important to me is that the light kit is not properly engineered to signal my Jeep that the lights are actually working. Every time I tap the brakes or turn on a turn signal, I get a warning from my Jeep saying that the lights are out. Of course, Thule is pointing fingers at Jeep and Jeep is pointing fingers at Thule. Meanwhile, I'm a distracted driver who spent hundreds diagnosing at my dealer only to end up with this problem persisting. And finally, whomever created that cover should be shot. I really enjoy after wrangling with my bike rack for a half hour to get it off the hitch spending another half hour trying to put that darn cover on it. Does it carry bikes? Well yes. Does everything else cause me to wish I never bought it, absolutely.
