Why We Like The Specialized Allez Sprint Disc Road Frameset

Whether our goal is to reach the top of the podium or outsprint our friends to the coffee shop, the Specialized Allez Sprint Disc Road Frameset is the perfect starting point for our dream bike. The combination of the aluminum frame and carbon fiber fork provides the stability, handling, and power transfer we seek in a fast road frame, while the alloy head tube and integrated cable routing provide optimized aerodynamics. Compatible with aero or traditional stems and bars and mechanical or electronic drivetrains, we can truly design our dream road machine.

Heads up - We do our best to keep bike specs and images current, but occasional component changes can happen without warning-and sometimes the photos might not show the exact build you'll receive. If you want to double-check the details, our Gearheads are always here to help.

Built this up with a mechanical Shimano 105, roval rapide bars and hunt aero 44 wheels. This thing flies. I’m a couple hundred miles in on this new bike and have consistently been setting PRs. A couple things to note about this frame: -The carbon seat-post (20mm offset) and fork give plenty of compliance where it’s needed. For aluminum it’s quite comfortable. Paired with carbon wheels, I don’t think any cyclist would truthfully feel a difference. -This bike is stiff (in a good way). It’s built for Criterium races where maximizing power transfer and quick acceleration is important. I race, but also use this as a daily driver, and that stiffness is so nice to have when sprinting for KOMs or trying to maintain zone 2 watts on workout rides. Now, don’t get stiff and uncomfortable mixed up - it’s plenty comfortable (see note 1!) -It’s durable. I crashed (oops) the other week, and while nothing broke, my carbon wheels and bars and metal groupset have got some decent scratches in them. Like enough to notice at coffee stops. The frame on the other hand doesn’t even have a scratch in the finish. Very happy about that. Not so much about everything else, alas it was my own fault. -compared to a tarmac frame, which would offer additional marginal gains, sure, I’m saving enough to finish the build with top spec parts. And, because I fall off my bike now and then (nobody is perfect, okay) I don’t have to worry about a frame replacement.

Came packed well. Know the frame well. Unsightly welds. Rides as well as most carbon.
