The Shimano Saint PD-M828 Pedals are purposely built for gravity disciplines where riders find themselves ripping downhill at exceedingly high speeds and sure-footed grip is an absolute necessity to staying on the bike, even when things get loose, rocky, and downright sketchy. They represent the pinnacle in bombproof durability and sure-footed traction in Shimano's Saint line, meaning you'll likely be riding these pedals for years to come, even if you bash them regularly on rocks and rugged terrain.
Shimano uses 5-millimeter pins at the front and rear, paired with slightly shorter 4-millimeter pins at center for that cradled, locked-in feel desired while downhill racing, freeriding, and hitting jumps in the bike park. The fore-aft concave keeps your foot securely held in place, so it won't accidentally slip off, even when you're rallying over boulders, hitting bigger drops, and railing around berms at high speeds.
For this version, Shimano uses a slightly skinnier axle to reduce the pedal's overall weight, but without sacrificing much in terms of strength, seeing it's made of chromoly steel for exceptional durability, even as you thrash them on the mountain. Additionally, the sealed spindle keeps out muck and moisture, so it'll last a long time without requiring you to pull it apart in the home workspace or garage.
