Why We Like The Shimano L04C Metallic Disc Brake Pads
Cooler brakes stop more reliably, and Shimano's L04C Metallic Disc Brake Pads use both cooling Ice Technology and metal construction to provide the highest all-around stopping power in Shimano's line. On their own, the metal pads display reliable, high stopping power in wet or dry conditions, demonstrating consistently better durability over repetitive use than their resin counterparts. These pads are compatible with Shimano's 2-piston gravel calipers as well as GRX road setups.

Easy to Install
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Super easy install. Great stopping power. Metal pads get incredibly loud when wet so keep that in mind.

Shimano GRX 400 brakes
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Despite what a backcountry rep told me, and despite what the Shimano GRX 400 docs say (by omission), these pads, which are the L04C metallic pads, fit my GRX 400 brakes. My GRX 400 brakes came new with the L03A resin pads, so if your bike uses L03A pads, then these L04C pads will also fit. Oh yeah, and if you don't already know, the "L" on a pad means the left side of the caliper when you are sitting on the bike, and the "R" on a pad means the right side of the caliper.
