105 CS-5700 cassette

Shimano's 105 group has always been the go-to line of components for riders and racers who are looking to save a few bucks. If you don't mind adding a few grams to your bike to save some cash, the cassette is a pretty good place to do it since it's low, doesn't add rolling weight, and really won't affect steering. Either way, the Shimano 105 CS-5700 cassette only weighs 20 grams more than its more expensive sibling, the Ultegra, so it isn't much of a sacrifice anyway.

The CS-5700 cassette uses Shimano's famous and ever-improving Hyperglide shifting system for crisp, reliable shifting. The tallest cogs are riveted onto an aluminum carrier for weight savings, and they're more gentle on aluminum cassette bodies. Shimano has improved their manufacturing quality; now they can make the ramps stronger because they can build to tighter tolerances. And the ramps themselves have been revised for faster shifting.

The 105 CS-5700 Cassette has ten cogs and comes in the following ratios: 11-25, 11-28, 12-25, and 12-27. It comes with a nice alloy lock ring. The finish is Chrome (a color, not old-style chrome-plating).
