Potential Great Saddle, But...
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
A top-notch quality saddle from SMP, as you'd expect for the price. The shape is ideal - a bit shorter than their previous designs but not so short that you feel like you're sitting on the edge of a bar stool, like some others. The profile is well-shaped and the sitbone indents are a brilliant touch. However, the saddle has no padding - just a covering - and on any ride over an hour it is unbearable. Perhaps it would work for fat tires or suspension bikes, but on a standard road bike it's a no. A bit of foam would make this the perfect saddle, pity.
