H3 Direct Drive Smart Trainer Connected Kit
Stepping into the modern and heavily tech-based ecosystem of indoor cycling can understandably be daunting and intimidating. With the Saris H3 Direct Drive Smart Trainer Connected Kit, the transition towards becoming a fully-fledged indoor expert is as smooth as the trainer’s precision electromagnetic resistance. The good folks from Saris, out of Wisconsin, USA, strive for a plug-and-play style of set up with the H3 Kit. Unbox the smart trainer, which has the pre-installed 11-speed cassette loaded onto the freehub, set your end caps to match your bike, and connect the trainer to either the included Zwift or Rouvy training platform to ride.
The training on a smart trainer feels intuitive. Saris intends the H3 to replicate on-road riding characteristics like coasting, hills, and sprint efforts with impressive accuracy and responsiveness. Power is within +/-2% accuracy, measure to 2000 watts, and replicate 20% inclines. When connected to training platforms, such as Zwift, you virtually ride courses while the app and trainer communicate course details and your specific on-bike efforts over ANT+ and Bluetooth. The result is an exciting, life-like, and performance-forward training experience.
The H3 trainer is built to be a fully-enclosed system that needs no significant upkeep. Self-calibrating, self-cooled, and without the need for external devices to assist it, the trainer is always ready for the training session. Should you need to run the H3 without app connection, the “headless” feature allows the trainer to act like its older sibling the Fluid2, so you’ll be able to train on a progressive power curve as you move through the gears on the cassette. An integrated front-wheel block is integrated into the design, and the H3 is XD/XDR compatible with separately sold freehubs. And the included sweatband protects your bike’s paint from heavy sessions when puddles are the goal.

Saris for the Win !!
I had my choice of trainers, and Sarris was the hands-down winner, the quiet ride the H3 smart trainer provides is unparalleled, not to mention how easy it is to use, and how compact it is, with retractable legs and a handy handle to pack it for a weekend at the beach so I won’t miss my miles for the day

Makes training on Zwift so easy
I used the original hammer and thought the unit was OK. It was loud and the signal would drop frequently, but this H3 has been wonderful. It quickly syncs up with Zwift and is buttery smooth. I opted for the kit that included the cassette because of supply chain struggles finding a Shimano cassette. The included cassette is pretty poor. It's noisy, and just does not have very crisp shifting Makes your realize how good a Shimano Ultegra cassette really is. Overall, I am very pleased with this unit and glad I finally made the investment.

Great resistance !!
I moved up from the fluid 2 to this bad boy, I am sure I will be ready for the mountain mayhem next season. I could barely finish the intervals I used to do on the fluid with no problem. Its a great training tool

Hammer 2

I have been using my Hammer 2 for over three years without an issue - almost 8,000 miles. I'm the only one I know with a Hammer smart trainer and everyone else has had an issue with their trainers at one time or another. My friends with Wahoo trainers seem to have had really good luck with their customer support. The Hammer trainer is suppose to have a lifetime warranty. I hope I never have to use it.

Great Trainer
I was looking for a trainer to improve my cycling this winter and wanted to go online with it. The H3 has worked as advertised, and is made in the USA. The chain drive on my road bike is louder than the H3. Setup was simple and hassle free which is why I selected the bundle. No problems connecting to cycling apps through Windows 10. The feature I like the most is terrain matching with a cycling app. When the H3 changes resistance, it feels seamless. There is no slippage like the tire on trainers. Instead of watching the clock to finish my workout, I pay more attention to the virtual road. Staying on my bike indoors for more than a hour is no longer a problem.

I have a bike with a 10speed cassette Shimano. The trainer H3 come with a pre-installed 11speed cassette but the specs says it is compatible with Shimano 8-11speed cassettes. It is ok if a install my bike on the 11speed cassette or I must buy a cassette?

I have a bike with quick release axle and need to install the 130mm spacers. I can attach one to the non-drive side, but there are no threads on the drive side, just the preinstalled cassette. Suggestions?

The H3 was described in a review as being able to switch from Erg mode to "hill climb" mode which allows the rider to vary power by shifting gears. How is this done?

Hello, I bought the bundle a couple of days ago. As my current bicycle is 8 speed shimano and the bundle comes with 11 speed cassette. I don't see a spacer included as mentioned when switching out the cassettes. Is it supposed to be included ?
