DV3K Tubular Wheelset

It's no secret that we love carbon tubular wheels. When it comes to race day, you just can't beat the smooth rolling, lightweight agility that they provide. However, not all carbon is created equal, and the Reynolds DV3K Tubular Wheelset is a testament to this fact. Handmade in the USA, the DV3K provides better handling, rigidity, and acceleration than most wheels twice the price. Maybe it's because of all the proprietary technology, or maybe it's because Reynolds devotes its time solely to wheels; not wasting R&D hours on cranks and handlebars. Whatever it is, the DV3K wheelset is scary fast, and we'd rather ride them than ponder them, but there's a lot to ponder.

The Reynolds DV3K Tubular Wheelset was designed with three functions in mind: aerodynamics, stability, and weight reduction. Reynolds knows that when these elements are combined mindfully of each other, that the result is efficiency, and most importantly, raw speed. The first ingredient in achieving this trifecta of race domination is the decision to construct the rim from high-modulus carbon fiber. Compared to typical carbon weaves, this material heightens rigidity and lowers weight without dissipating strength. This results in less weight focused at the rim, thus lower rotational weight, and thus less energy required to get the wheels up to speed and to maintain velocity. So, over a short sprint, or a long duration, the force you exert is efficiently spent. This is further exemplified through the DV3K's aerodynamic 46mm rim depth. The deeper rims increase lateral and torsional rigidity, which promotes a more direct power transfer.

For durability and handling, the DV3K uses Reynolds' proprietary Vibration Management System (VMS) in the creation of the carbon layup. A system of computer modeling, VMS has pinpointed a carbon layup iteration that absorbs frequency vibration feedback from the road without sacrificing strength or stiffness. This design reduces rider fatigue, and makes for a wheelset that reacts predictably in the corners at speed. To make the wheelset even stronger, and more aerodynamic, Reynolds locates the spoke nipples within the rim section. Given that a nipple has a larger diameter than its spoke counterpart, embedding the nipple means that the rim can have a smaller hole drilled in, and thus less fiber has to be cut from the rim. This not only adds to the durability of the rim, but the system also allows a greater spoke tension for a better performing wheel. The embedding also increases the wheels' aerodynamics by minimizing drag-producing turbulence.

The DV3KT front wheel features DT Revolution spokes radial laced to a Reynolds Specific Design (RSD) hub. The rear wheel is laced radial on the non-drive-side, and two-cross on the drive side with DT Revolution and DT Competition spokes to an RSD hub. The wheelset also includes front and rear quick-release axles.

The Reynolds DV3KT Tubular Wheelset is available in a 700c diameter, and in the color White. This wheelset is available in two freehub options for compatibility with Campagnolo, SRAM, and Shimano cassettes. Reynolds recommends the use of the Reynolds Carbon Brake Pads with this wheelset.
