Great fit, comfortable, not too hot
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Wanted some extra protection for downhill mtb, having the extra side padding plus tailbone makes me feel more comfortable, and even though I ride downhill the chamois makes it more comfortable riding around, and adds some protection if you fall and connect with the frame... Very comfortable, chamois took a ride to get used to then I appreciated it. Fits true to size.

Good chamois
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I always wear SixSixOne Evo Compression Short w/ Chamois when I ride an mtb, and they have saved my hips and thighs in crashes in Phoenix, Sedona, Moab, and Park City. They are great protection shorts and they have a great chamois, but I wanted to try something different. The pictures for the POC Synovia VPD Short do not show the chamois, so I thought I would post a review after I bought a pair. The POC Synovia VPD Short has a thick, green colored chamois comparable in quality to the chamois in my Giordana FR-C Pro bib shorts. I was very happy to see a quality chamois in the POC Synovia VPD Short rather than, say, the thin, do nothing chamois found in Troy Lee Designs liner shorts. The POC chamois felt comfortable on the first ride. The sizing seems a little smaller than the size chart. I typically wear a size XL with my 37 inch waist, and the size chart says the XL is 39 inches and the L is 36.6 inches. I bought both an L and an XL, expecting the XL to be too big, but the XL fits snugly, like spandex shorts should. I'm happy with the size XL.
