Why We Like The Houdini Jacket
For practically weightless weather protection on our daily run, hike, or climb, we bring along the Patagonia Houdini Jacket. It's easy to pack down and throw in the pack, a pocket, or on a harness, and keeps us protected from whipping alpine winds and light precipitation. Now made with a completely recycled nylon ripstop that blocks the wind at an ultralight weight, this jacket also features a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coating that sheds light rain, moderate snow, and whatever mild precipitation you can manage to find in the mountains.

Ultra Lightweight
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Great lightweight summer layer for wind/rain - exactly what I was looking for. It's a pretty slim fit. I went with my usual xs in Patagonia and I can fit a tank or slim tee underneath, but not much else. This works for me since I wanted something for hot weather, but definitely size up if you plan to layer over anything heavier. So far, it's held up well in light rain and doesn't trap heat, but I'm not sure I'd trust the water protection in a heavy downpour.

Packs down to a pocket size.
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Packs down to pocket size, runs a bit tighter around the torso than original Houdini jacket. Would NOT be good over thick layers.

not as pictured
The one I bought is a different one as the picture, but anyway the color is a little darker than pictured, really want to return it but the shipping back is not free.

Can't beat the weight!!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This is my 2nd. Houdini jacket. It weighs less than an ounce, yet protects from wind quite well. Very flattering fit, on me it's a tad longer than on the model. (5'4", 120 lbs.) Last time I purchased one size up to fit fleece inside, this will be for more hotter hiking with wind at 10,000 ft. mode. The prints are great and this jacket will double as a nice shirt apres-hike!

Great gears at great prices!

Descriptions were accurate, especially colors and sizes. I use my Houdini jacket nine months out of a year. It washed as well, hang dry as recommend. Backcountry is my first go-to store for all my adventures. I especially love that they have a large selection of brands, including their genetic brand. Online order and return were super easy! They have quality product at great prices. Easy to find sizes and colors that I wanted. Their prices are unbeatable, especially their sale events. I highly recommend Backcountry for your next adventures.

Nice Light Weight Jacket
Am always fan of Patagonia products and this is all as it was described when I ordered it. Somehow, I guess I missed that there are no pockets which keeps it nicely fitted, close to the body. However, had I realized that there were no pockets, probably would not have ordered it. But I did keep it.

Ready for Fall Running

Just got this to prep for rainy and windy Seattle fall runs. Love how lightweight and portable it is. I'm almost wishing for it to start raining here. Almost.

Everyone needs at least one Houdini
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I absolutely love my Houdinis (yes, plural). I use it for biking, running, fighting the Pacific wind and sometimes also the sun. It makes picking the right wardrobe so easy: Jersey/shirt + houdini works in the winter and in the summer. If you area outdoorsy person you definitely want to have one (or two,...).

Great on-the-go Rain Jackets
- Familiarity:

I love that I can literally just shove this thing in my backpack and purse. It's a great jacket to have, especially if you live somewhere where it'll rain daily.

Superlight, water repellent, runs small
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I absolutely love the jacket, lightweight and windproof. Not to be waterproof but I am ok with that. I usually go with a medium in Patagonia, but this jacket runs really small. If you have curves, definitely size up!
