DIY threading for the EDC Tool System.
After gaining a glimpse of the ingenious steer tube storage of the EDC Tool System, you've convinced yourself that you're ready to ditch wearing a pack in favor of this slick tool kit. However, you'll need to pick up the EDC Tap Kit by OneUp Components before you install the EDC Tool System inside your fork's steer tube. The Tap Kit contains everything you need to thread the inside of your fork's steer tube, allowing the EDC Tool System to harmoniously nest inside.
Please note, you'll need to check OneUp Component's website for compatibility with your current fork, just to be on the safe side before threading the inside of its steer tube. This kit contains a Go-No-Go gauge that determines if your fork's steer tube is compatible with the EDC Tool System, indicating it's ready to go if the first section of the Go-No-Go gauge slides inside your steer tube, but the second section does not.
Furthermore, this kit contains a Starnut Puller and Puller Bolt for removing the starnut, as well as the Tap Guide and Tap for threading the inside of the steer tube. The Tap Guide and Tap perfectly thread the inside of your fork's steer tube, requiring you to thread the full 8 millimeters before the Tap bottoms out on the Tap Guide, preventing it from going any further. Besides using this EDC Tap Kit, you'll need to separately purchase the EDC Top Cap Kit, which contains the specific top cap and steerer plug necessary for installation.
