Why We Like The DRT5 Helmet
After taking a bit of a hiatus from the mountain bike world, Oakley is back with a new helmet that's designed, engineered, and tested by expert riders, including a close collaboration with 3x World Champion Greg Minnaar. Made for trail riding and enduro racing, the DRT5 Helmet offers the protection needed to confidently rip down technical descents, along with extensive ventilation for those unforgiving climbs back to the top. Standout features include an innovative eyewear stowing mechanism that securely fastens your sunglasses to the top of the helmet during extended climbs or long breaks, as well as a trusty BOA FS1 360-degree fit system for a comfortable and easily-adjustable fit. A tough polycarbonate shell molded to a shock-absorbing EPS liner protects against high and low-speed impacts, while the MIPS Brain Protection System guards against harmful rotational forces experienced during certain types of crashes.

Great Helmet
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've used mine for about a year now. I love the helmet. I've read the negatives pointed out in other reviews and thankfully I've not had the same experience with the X-Static sweat pads or the nut coming loose. I love the eyewear stowing mechanism. It's comfortable and pretty well ventilated. Love the use of the Boa as well.

This product is so Oakley, it could be on the cover of a catalog. Somewhat pricy. Wonderful in all area. Except one or two. Almost fatal flaws. The Velcro which holds the gutter to the helmet (or the included padded brow pad) it maybe 2.5 mm round pieces and adhesive backed. There's maybe 5 of these tiny bastards. Not anymore you pulled 3 off when you removed the gutter to rinse it off. Yeah I can fix it, which I did, by getting more Velcro. Raise your hand if you want to send off $200 for a helmet and glue new Velcro on to keep the brow pad on, and Oakley will hook you up. Fabulous helmet. Vented like a hobo's underwear, holds on well and of course work second to none with big sunglasses. I'd buy it again, but it's maddening to have to fix it after a few sweaty rides.

Visor nut comes loose and falls out
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

Good helmet except the visor nut. Oakley has no replacement parts for this helmet. I have not been able to find a replacement that will fit. I believe this to be a design issue, multiple people have reported the same issue.
