Mavic uses 3K carbon fibers to shape the rims in a blunt profile. Mavic constructed it specifically with climbing and endurance in mind, so the 32mm-deep wheels are dependably stable while riding in crosswinds and tackling winding, long ascents. It uses a NACA inspired rim shape that helps minimize aerodynamic drag while the reduced inertia, thanks to that lighter weight rim, delivers excellent responsiveness. Mavic also paid close attention to the wheels' impact resistance, which earned high ratings, ensuring the wheels will be able to withstand long days on chip-sealed roads and weather-beaten shoulders while you're dreaming of glass smooth tarmac.

Though it tends to privilege tradition, Mavic's Instant Drive 360 freehub shows it's not afraid of well-executed change by updating these wheels with its latest ratchet ring engagement system. The Instant Drive 360 hubs also feature more reliable, no-contact seals as a barrier against damaging road grit, and they save a claimed 40g compared to its FTS-L hubs. The new hubs are laced to the rims with 24 double-butted, straight-pull, aero steel spokes arranged in a two-cross pattern on the front and rear, drive-side and non-drive side. This pattern provides the right balance of stiffness, preparing the wheels to manage the added torque from disc brakes and with stiffness and stability while braking on steep descents.

The Mavic's Ksyrium Pro Carbon UST Disc Wheel includes Mavic's 28mm wide Yksion Pro UST tires, with 11 Storm compound for increased cornering confidence, more mileage, and a fast rolling ride. The tires receive a nylon breaker from bead to bead flat protection. The wheels come packaged with QR and 12mm adapters for the front hub, as well as 12 x 142mm and QR adapters for the rear hub, sealant and a syringe, rim tape, a user's guide, and valves.
