Ellipse Track Wheels

100 grams lighter than last year's wheels, the Mavic Ellipse Track Wheelset reminds us of the Ksyrium SL Premium road wheelset -- it's an unmatched convergence of aerodynamics, stiffness, durability, and cost. The weight savings comes from a new, lighter rim extrusion. But just like before, the black anodized 6106 aluminum rims are 30mm in depth -- deep enough to provide an aerodynamic advantage at speed, but shallow enough for instant acceleration. Its stainless steel spokes are profiled to add another aero edge, while their straight-pull design mates to a profiled eyelet to prevent breakage. In comparison to J-bend spokes, straight-pull spokes are tough as nails.

The aluminum hub shells are light, yet with steel axles, the hubs are plenty strong enough to ensure years of maintenance-free use. They're built with Mavic's QRM+ sealed-cartridge precision bearings, and the rear hub is double-threaded. The Ellipse Track Wheels include fixing nuts for both wheels, a cog lockring, valve extenders, a bearing adjustment tool, and a spoke wrench for use on its aero spokes. They're available as clinchers only.

This wheelset is part of Mavic's MP3 extended warranty program. The acronym stands for Mavic Product Protection Plan, and it provides you with two years of almost unlimited no-fault protection from Mavic. More details can be found on the MP3 website. You'll get an email from us the day after your online wheel purchase, containing the retailer and product codes that you'll need to register your wheels on the Mavic MP3 site.
