Crossmax XL Pro 29in WTS Wheelset

If you spend all day blasting along the trails on your capable 29er, you're going to want some wheels that match the attitude of your burly frame. The Mavic Crossmax XL Pro 29ers make a convincing case for themselves, built with all of the technology that has earned Mavic wheels their legendary status. They're also designed as a wheel/tire system, integrated to work together as a durable, dependable wheelset that can keep up on your big travel 29er adventures.

Mavic shapes the Crossmax XL Pro rims with Maxtal aluminum, a Mavic-exclusive version of aluminum that's treated to display 30% more resistance under stress and a better overall strength-to-weight ratio than the more conventional 6061 alloy. Mavic also beefs up the sidewalls of the rim for even more durability, anticipating unavoidable hard hits on the trail. This reinforcement is balanced by Mavic's Inter Spoke Milling technology, which involves carefully machining out extra material from between the spokes and other areas that aren't subjected to as much stress. The result is a lightweight rim on which every gram contributes to overall rigidity and fatigue-resistance.

Twenty-four bladed, straight-pull Zicral aluminum spokes lace the rims to Mavic's QRM+ hubs in a shock-absorbing cross arrangement on the front wheel complemented by the rear wheel's radial drive-side and two-cross non-drive side pattern, adding increased stiffness where it's needed most. The hub's four pawls working two-by-two for a responsive 7.5-degree engagement angle, allowing you to quickly pop over a steep crux or accelerate immediately out of corners.

Since the Crossmax XL Pro 29ers are a complete wheel/tire system, Mavic includes its own knobby Crossmax Quest tires. They're tubeless ready, have a 66 TPI, and include a high-density Guard + layer to protect against punctures. The wheelset comes with a tubeless conversion kit — which includes sealant and valves — as well as quick-release skewers and an adjustment wrench.
