Cosmic Elite UST Disc Wheelset - Tubeless

Disc brakes and tubeless technology has got to be the two biggest improvements in our road riding over the past few seasons. The massive increase in stopping power and control as well as the improved ride comfort, decreased rolling resistance, and flat reduction has certainly improved our drop bar pavement riding experiences. While we'd love to have lightweight carbon wheels for every occasion, sometimes our budget just doesn't allow for it. In that instance, when you are looking for a quality, durable wheelset that's still more than able to handle the rigors of everyday training, Mavic's Tubeless Cosmic Elite UST Disc Wheelset is hard to beat.

The Cosmic lineup has always given a nod towards aerodynamics and Mavic gives the Cosmic Elites a slightly aero profile with a 30mm deep alloy rim. This allows for advantages in a time trial or breakaway situation without feeling the effects of getting blown around on blustery days. Other aero touches include straight pull bladed steel spokes in a low, for disc brake wheels at least, 24 hole count front and rear. A 17mm inner width is optimized for tire's ranging from 25 to 32mm. The UST tubeless ready rim allows for lower operating pressures which contribute to increased traction, better handling, and improved comfort. Leaving the tube out also reduces friction so you get less rolling resistance and save a bit of weight.

The Cosmic Elites might have a low barrier to entry but it doesn't lack the technology that Mavic has garnished in its over 100 years of operation. The S6000 aluminum is as durable as it is lightweight and the hoops are joined together using Mavic's SUP technique, the same arc welding process used on its premium alloy wheels. Spokes are laced 2-cross on the front and rear, drive and disc side creating a laterally stiff wheel that transmits power efficiently. These wheels are available for Shimano/SRAM cassettes and either 6-bolt or centerlock rotor mounts. They come supplied with Mavic's Yksion Pro UST tires, sealant, rim tape, valves, and a bearing adjustment tool. Axles are 12mm thru front and rear but are easily convertible for your bike or should you need to change it down the road.
