Cosmic Elite UST Disc Wheel

Today's road tubeless is really impressive and we truly feel like the wheel and tire technology has improved to the point that we really don't care to use an inner tube going forward. Ditching the tube lowers the rolling resistance so you can go faster with less effort and it also allows you to lower the tire pressure for a more comfortable ride and offer better traction. Then there's the reduced risk of punctures, thanks to a little bit of sealant inside the tire which greatly reduces the risk of a flat when riding on goathead riddled bike paths and bike lanes with broken glass. The other road bike technology that took us a while to warm up to but we couldn't imagine riding without them now are disc brakes. The power and modulation in all conditions is hard to ignore and we think it's time for everyone to experience road tubeless and disc brakes, and with options like Mavic's Cosmic Elite UST Disc Wheel, there's no reason you can't.

We're amazed at the performance that the Cosmic Elite UST Disc packs and did a double take to make sure the price was right with these wheels, especially when you factor in that the price includes tires. Besides the smoother ride and improved puncture resistance that comes from running sealant, tubeless affords a lighter weight set up, by about 40 grams per wheel, for snappier climbing and accelerating, yielding an all-around more responsive ride.

Cosmic wheels have always had a touch of aero in the lineup and Mavic, through wind tunnel testing, creates a 30mm deep rim profile that boosts aero performance without compromising stability in crosswinds. Bladed straight pull spokes and aero profile hubs further contribute to wind-cheating and the aluminum rims are a pleasant departure from more fragile carbon rims. Mavic is the master of aluminum manipulation and tunes the thickness of the rim wall to optimize stiffness, strength, and weight. A reinforced lower rim wall gives it incredible resistance and durability. The S6000 alloy creates a very light yet strong rim extrusion that is arc welded using Mavic's SUP process. The seam is then milled for a smooth finish that cannot be detected externally with your eye or by touch. The entire rim is then anodized black with nary a brake track so the rims take on a stealth aesthetic, aside from the larger Cosmic decals. It's 17mm inner width pairs perfect with the included 25mm wide tires and anything up to around 32mm if your bike has the room to spare.

Pedaling effort is transferred into forward motion with the Instant Drive 360 freehub, a lightweight system that's smooth, quick to engage, and easy to service. The hubs feature auto adjustable sealed cartridge bearings (QRM Auto), front and rear and allow for various endcaps to be used for maximum compatibility. Finally, the Cosmic Elite UST Disc Wheel comes ready to go tubeless with Yksion Pro UST tires, sealant, a syringe, tubeless tape, and valves to help you get the most from the tubeless setup.
