Cosmic CXR 60 Carbon Road Wheelset - Clincher

The Mavic Cosmic CXR 60 Clincher Wheelset is a straight up advantage in races where wind is a factor. Based off the ultra-aerodynamic Cosmic CXR 80, the CXR 60 is a shallower, clincher version that's just as comfortable in a sprint triathlon as it is in a hilly stage race. Mavic, being the company it is, wasn't content to leave anything to chance, so beyond simply maximizing the aerodynamic efficiency of the hub, spokes, and rim, it built a special aerodynamic version of its exemplary Yksion GripLink and PowerLink tires, ensuring maximum efficiency from the entire wheelset. And naturally, at 1825g for the wheelset, there's a minimal weight penalty for pro-level aerodynamic slip.

The Cosmic CXR 60 rims are constructed using carbon fiber with a 3K finish weave and a 60mm depth. Aerodynamics are clearly at the forefront of the design, and Mavic's wind tunnel data reports as much as 1.25 seconds per kilometer in savings. Time and weight savings aside, the Cosmic CXR 60 is exceptionally stiff, transferring your power into forward motion with minimal loss.

Mavic uses its signature carbon-bodied hubs with aluminum flanges to house the QRM+ cartridge bearings. The double-sealed bearings have a tight tolerance for high rolling efficiency and are micro-adjustable to make sure you get every watt you make. For greater efficiency and durability in the rear hub, two stainless steel FTS-L inserts are used in the contact area between the pawl and hub body.

Sixteen bladed, straight-pull steel spokes lace the rims to the hubs in a radial pattern on the front wheel. The two-cross/radial pattern on the rear wheel splits the difference between stiffness and weight, and utilizes twenty of the same spokes as the front. The Cosmic CXR 60 clincher wheels work as a system with Mavic's Yksion CXR Griplink/Powerlink front- and rear-specific clincher tires. Having the right tire for the job increases your efficiency, but Mavic stepped it up a notch with CX01 blade. This small, lightweight blade snaps seamlessly into the small gap left between the rim and tire. The wheel-tire system improves laminar airflow at all yaw angles and minimizes turbulence where the rim and tire meet. The Griplink/Powerlink tires use two durometers of rubber, and a supple, high-density casing for exceptional cornering and control. A nylon, anti-puncture breaker belt increases the tire's resistance to flat-causing road debris.

The Mavic Cosmic CXR 60 Carbon Road Clincher Wheelset comes with BR601 quick releases, wheelbags, CXR-specific brake pads, valve extenders, a multifunction wrench, and a user guide. They come in Black with Black tires and are available with a Campagnolo or Shimano/SRAM 11-speed-compatible freehub body.
