With the masses taking to the trail, its only natural to crave an adventure that pushes you well beyond the crowds, down country roads to ghost towns that remain as a dilapidated reminder of the Wild West, with crumbling facades of saloons and old country stores. You know the kind of road we're talking about — the kind that is coated with a layer of dust and gravel to challenge the sum of your tire clearance on your road machine, and require quicker pedaling power than your trail machine while you push your way off the map. Juliana crafts the all-new Quincy Carbon CC Rival 1x Complete Bike to take on adventures of the gravel kind, with a finely tuned carbon frame and fork that's built to hold up to the jarring terrain that you find beyond the tarmac, and offer just the right amount of give to keep you comfortable on the long haul.
While this Quincy is fitted with lofty 700c hoops, Juliana builds the frame with plenty of fine-tuning opportunity, offering the space you need to run either 700c or 650b wheels, and clearance to run lofty tires on either application. It features relatively slack geometry for a fully-rigid steed, with a 69.5-degree head tube angle (size 49), providing you with a longer wheelbase for stability on uneven terrain and poorly graded gravel. But don't worry, that longer wheelbase won't leave you feeling too stretched out and sluggish, as the slacker head tube is paired up with a neatly perched, steep 74.5-degree seat tube (size 49), allowing you to stay at the center of your cockpit and ready for the attack, should you decide to toe the line at a gravel race, or hit the sand-pits for CX season.
Pleasingly simple, the Quincy foregoes pesky front-derailleurs for a cleaner, tidy one-by application. This makes for less maintenance, and fewer issues when you're a hundred miles off of the beaten path and far from cell service — however the chassis can be set up with a clamp-on front derailleur if more gears is what you're after. Mounts for a fender in the back add another hit of versatility to this steed, so you can keep yourself covered from mud and wheel spray in the event of a sudden downpour on your route. Three bottle cages offer plenty of mounts for life-giving liquid, so those long rides aren't paired up with a wicked case of dehydration.
Juliana implements its CC level carbon fiber on this particular model, providing an immaculate layup that holds up to just about any terrain you throw its way, so you can venture down rolling singletrack and dirt roads alike. Carbon CC is Juliana's top-tier carbon, which shaves weight off of its heavier counterpart, while maintaining the torsional stiffness you need when you're hammering on the pedals. This is done by selecting the finest carbon fiber on the market, and pairing it with top-level resins, before setting to work on an incredible layup schedule that places carbon in critical zones to add stiffness and structural integrity, while trimming away any superfluous material to scale in as light as possible.
Like all Julianas, the Quincy features the same outstanding craftsmanship and geometry as its Santa Cruz brother, the Stigmata. This means that there is no compromise to the structural integrity or implementation of the "shrink-it-and-pink-it" mentality. We ride just as hard as men and deserve a steed that can handle it. Where you will find differences are the places that count — the touch points. The Quincy utilizes the women's-specific Ergon SR10 Sport Gel Women's saddle, with a wider profile that's better suited to our anatomy, and features narrower bars that are tailored specifically to each size, better suiting our shoulder width for comfort whether you're on the hoods or in the drops.
