GT starts with the same 6061-T6 aluminum that it uses on many of its adult frames, as the treated metal provides an ideal blend of lightness and durability. Young riders won't be slowed down by a clunky frame as they pedal uphill, while the frame itself will be durable enough to withstand the inevitable bumps and spills. An SR Suntour fork provides them with an introduction to the joys of suspension, offering 50mm of plush travel when they leave the pavement behind.

As kids head onto trails or decide to try that intimidating hill they've always been afraid of, they'll be able to take advantage of a triple crank, seven-speed Sunrace cassette, and dependable Shimano rear derailleur. The easy-to-use grip shifters will allow them to explore their potential on challenging terrain, and linear pull hand brakes keep them in control as they test out new speeds.
