Why We Like The Fox Racing Ranger Short
The Ranger Shorts are among Fox Racing's most popular items because they're the shorts that so many of us cut our own trail teeth on. The Ranger sits right at the knee, with ample room to pedal and stretch out without it being baggy like a gravity-specific short, but the waist is easier to dial on the fly, even if you can only spare one hand for waistband fiddling.

Unforgiving waist
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- 28
- Height:
- 5' 4"
- Weight:
- 130
Love the short length just above the knee caps and fitted legs, the fabric is stretchy and light and it breaths great during hot rides. The big downside is the waist, for some reason they use an additional black fabric, a sort of mesh lining the waist, that it's not elastic at all, it has zero give. I'm a skinny 28" and the short fits well, but when I'm moving around on the bike and because there's no zipper on the fly and it just have a single snap button, it snaps open everytime I expand my abdomen! If the waist was made of the main elastic fabric only, it would have some give and it would be fine, but it's not. So make sure the size you choose is slightly larger, otherwise if you choose the exact size, you might have the same problem I have.
