A very good bike bag with some quirks

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased this for a trip to Switzerland for an Ironman after thorough research to ensure it met my needs. Having traveled with my bike globally for over 20 years and used various cases—hard, soft, and foldable—I found this one meets my requirements exceptionally well. Pros: SIZE It comfortably fits my Trek Madone road bike without needing to remove the handlebars or saddle, though I did remove the seatpost to avoid pressure on the bag. The wheels fit securely on the sides, adding protection. As a semi-soft case, it can fold small enough to fit in a large car trunk. OUTSIDE PROTECTION Hard plastic portions on the top and bottom provide significant protection compared to fully soft cases. The durable plastic strips on the sides, front, and back further reinforce the structure. INSIDE PROTECTION The bike is securely strapped to the internal frame and doesn’t move in transit. I didn’t need to remove the rear derailleur, which some cases require. Wheel covers provide extra protection when placed on the sides. ASSEMBLY After a couple of tries, assembling and disassembling the case became straightforward. I could quickly pack or unpack it, even in a Zurich airport parking lot, and fit everything into a Mercedes station wagon. TRAVEL Minimal bike disassembly is required—just reattach the wheels for setup. This feature is excellent for multi-city or multi-country trips with frequent packing/unpacking. The case rolls smoothly and is easy to maneuver, with a removable third wheel for storage. It folds neatly for hotel room storage. Cons: PURCHASE The first two cases arrived damaged, likely due to courier mishandling. After two returns to Backcountry, I finally received an undamaged one. PLASTIC STRIPS Installing the hard plastic strips can be tricky due to their tight tolerance. Slightly wider pockets would make this process easier. PRICE It’s the priciest semi-soft case, though not as expensive as full hard cases. STORAGE Even folded, it takes up considerable space, which is inconvenient given I use it only once or twice a year. Conclusion: Despite some challenges, this case excels in protection, convenience, and ease of use. I highly recommend it and rate it five stars.

Best travel bike bag

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Best bag to travel with! Durable ! Easy to travel with light and rolls great. The hard case gives you peace of mind that your bike will arrive in one piece. Well worth the money/investment

Bike protected but bag QA

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The bag did it's job and protected the bike during my trip, I enjoyed the minimum disassembly require to travel. However I had two of the issues with the bag. First, one of the rivets on the side walls fell off right at unpacking, this didn't seem to affect the bag structure but it was concerning none the less. Next, the aluminum rails have plastic end caps that keep falling off and I need to glue them or find a way to keep them on. At this price point these minor problems should not be there. Things to consider for this bag: - The bag is really big and bulky, will it fit in your vehicle or rental you will be using? - Weight wise, the bag is heavy and may only carry your bike but no other items (bags or tools) - Instruction book looks nice but it is difficult to read in low light setting or to understand due to minimal write ups. No instructional videos by EVOC.
