I have struggled with mounting and dismounting TR tires for years. These are a dream to work with!

The TR Conti I've been waiting for

I always liked the Continental family of clincher tires but they were late to the tubeless era. The 5000 S TR tire shows that they've caught up and the tire is now my go to choice. First, compared to other TR tires, the Conti's are relatively easy to put on and take off which is a huge advantage compared to other TR tires especially when you get a flat on the road. Second, I ride in NYC and I've gotten one flat after four months which is pretty good compared to the flats I was getting with Conti clincher tires. Third, the tire does lose a bit more pressure over 1-2 days vs. the Pirelli's I was using before. I don't know if that is due to an issue with my wheel, sealant or the tires.

I’m kinda laughing at some of these negative reviews abouythe Conti GP 5000 S TR tires. I’ve been running the same tires for more than 6000 miles with one rear flat that sealed almost instantly (Stans), I ride a Tarmac and Princeton Wake 6560 wheels 32 mm tires at 60 PSI. My training weight is 183 lbs. My average ride is 210 watts over 50 miles on mostly fast rolling hills of NC and VA. I’ll never consider using a different tire EVER

The Ouch Tires
Usually, I love Continental tires. However, these are a bear to mount on your wheels! So hard that I sliced my hand open on these. Yup, wear gloves from now on. With that said, the bike shop had trouble mounting these as well. These tires run small. The 5000's will never ever be used again following this purchase.

I've ridden mostly Contis on my road bike for the last 40,000 mi, so these were a no-brainer for my new Parlee dream bike with Enve SES 3.4s. Indeed, puncture resistance has been remarkable with zero flats in first 1400mi on these 28C 5000S TRs, despite the unavoidable glass on Chicago streets. Similarly, the rear tread remains surprisingly intact and without the wear I'd expect by now. As a result, I anticipate that these tires will outlast my normal Conti lifecycle of approximately 2500 mi. And the ride is superb. I would easily give these a full, 5-star review for their performance and durability, particularly considering my 215lbs and the mean streets on which I often ride, except... Unfortunately, I regularly trim away threads from the sidewalls of both front and rear tires, a disturbing problem that indicates an issue extending beyond a single defective tire. [I noticed this tire problem a couple weeks after receiving the bike from my shop, so I do not have any tire packaging that might allow identification of manufacture date or lot number.] The threads shed from a subtle sidewall seam, approximately 5mm above the rim and typically grow to a couple or few inches before I notice them. I have never experienced this issue on any tire on any bike. I trim these close to the rubber due to concern that pulling on the thread too far might compromise the tire. Were it not for this shedding issue, these pricey tires are otherwise worth every penny.

Love these - smooth and fast!
- Familiarity:

I got new wheels and the wheel company (FLO Cycling - AS49 Disc front and AS64 Disc rear) specifically recommended these. My LBS didn't have these in stock, so I got something different. Meh. As soon as I found these, I got them and replaced the others. I was concerned about clearance on my road bike but ended up with 28mm, ultimately. WOW - what a difference. They feel great on less than perfect surfaces and have proven to be surprisingly durable, especially when I read other reviews. Knock wood, not a flat since I put them on in June. I've trained, raced and even did some gravel with no issues. I wondered about tubeless on my road bike, but it has proven to be a great decision and I am getting ready to order more of these because I've put on a lot of miles and they are getting close to needing replacement. Love these tires and highly recommend them!

FLAT
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Saw other reviews about flats but refused to believe it because the TLs were so good. I have never had so many punctures in my life. It honestly seems like every week at least once, my bike is covered in sealant after a ride. It’s unreal. I haven’t even made it through one season. Would not recommend at all.

Fast and Flat
- Familiarity:

Amazing when they work but I get flats about every 4th ride. More flats on these tires than the last 4 sets in a mere two months. I’m switching tires. Love the speed, traction, ride, but not a practical tire unless you just race.

I needed to change my rimtape and didn’t want to put old tires back on. Continental Tubeless tires are the same one I relied on for years. Tight fit mounting on the rim and easily test seals without sealant. Took them out for a test ride and put them through the wringer with climes, turns and high speed decent, oh what a ride!!! Go get yours!

As usual the GP5000 (now the TL) work great. Super fast and super good grip. The 28s on Enve 6.7 rims are 30 mm. Race tire of choice for me.
