Why We Like The Thudbuster ST Seatpost
Cane Creek's Thudbuster ST Seatpost delivers a smooth ride so we can stay planted in the saddle while pedaling across gravel, as opposed to hovering over it while we make our way through rough sections of backroads. The Thudbuster features a short 1.3in of four-bar travel to keep rough terrain in check, and it effectively smooths the ride and adds cushioning so we can tackle whatever terrain is coming our way.

Underwhelming
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I installed this seatpost on a brand new urban arrow family Cargo line e-bike and the seat post works ok - as some have mentioned online, you have to use a particular seat with large enough tails for the bolt mechanism to fasten properly. My seat feels a little loose as a result and I had to over tighten the bolt to get the seat to stay in place, which you're not supposed to do. So mildly disappointed by that. This issue might not be present with a different seat.

Works as advertised

We bought hardtail gravel bikes and soon learned what a bad idea that was. After researching several products, we ended up trying the ST, and it does the job—just enough flex without bouncing you around.

excellent for road and gravel riding
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Purchased this for my e-assist bike, riding some road but mostly bumpy gravel- easy to install and adjust the stiffness (comes with medium elastomer installed- soft and hard elastomers included along with weight chart and recommended elastomer); add just the right amount of absorption of bumps/dips/shocks without "bouncing"- highly recommended

Incredibly difficult to set up

Major disappointment. This seat post does not let you adjust the angle of the seat once you install the seat on the post. In most other seatposts I've used, you can just loosen the bolts a bit, adjust the angle, and tighten them again. In older thudbusters there was even a convenient dial for adjusting the angle. Here, you have to take the seat off and disassemble the whole thing - good luck making minor adjustments. If you do decide to buy it, first make sure you do the following before taking the old seatpost off: - measure the angle of the seat - measure the offset of the seat (compared to the stem or something else on the bike that you're not changing) Only then take off the old seatpost and install this one while setting the seat angle and offset to your old spec before you tighten the bolts - you won't be able to adjust it afterwards.
