Why We Like The Mille GT Winter Jacket Evo
Transitioning from fall to winter riding just got easier with the Mille GT Winter Jacket Evo from Assos. This jacket makes cycling through the chilly air that much easier thanks to insulating and water-resistant material. Triple ramp pockets, which are standard in most cycling jerseys, keep our essentials within reach even while we're pedaling, and reflective accents ensure we're seen when the sun dips behind the clouds or starts to set earlier in the day.

It's rare that I write a review and even rarer a somewhat negative one. But here it goes: this jacket is great, but it's not a winter jacket! My first ride was at about 6 degree C (42/43 F), an Assos Ultraz baselayer underneath and I was f&*ing cold, mainly on the arms. Well this one has no insulation in the sleeves! And a minimalist fleece lining in the front. I wondered before how this one would keep me warm, I got the answer. Second ride at ~10 degree C (50ish F) - that is probably the sweet spot for the jacket. I got caught in rain, no issue, the water just pearls off, no soaking through. Third ride starting again at 9 degree C but dropping lower when rain set in - same issue, I got cold once temps dropped to and below 6 degree. Tolerable, but not great. The fit is very sporty tight, this is no loose bag, I like the fit (size M at 178 cm/74 kg). Quality of the materials is first grade, typical Assos. This is a great versatile jacket when traveling, super light, no bulk. Could also be great for epic climbing days when riding up into the cold and then descending - this is a very light jacket, will not weigh me down. So there are use scenarios for this one, just not as labeled.

Narrow shoulder width
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- XL

I normally wear Assos jerseys in an XL size and figured this jacket would work great as well, but sadly the shoulders on this jacket are very narrow width and while the rest of the jacket seemed appropriately sized, I just couldn't make it fit.
